We shall be singing in English because Brahms chose to set his Requiem in the vernacular, rather than the traditional Latin, in order for it to be understood by singers and audience alike. Brahms chose the texts from the Bible himself, and made his choices more as a comfort to the bereaved ("Blessed are they that mourn") than as a prayer for those who have died, and this will be the main theme of our performance.

The edition we shall be using has yet to be decided - watch this space.
