Chantry Quire present St Cecilia, A Choral Celebration

Featuring some marvellous musical compositions celebrating the patron saint of music and musicians, St Cecilia. Her association with music is long standing, and stems from the legend that she was heard 'singing in her heart' on her wedding day.
We will be singing Dixit Dominus, the vibrant, virtuosic setting of psalm 110 by Handel.
The concert also features Britten's brilliant piece, A Hymn to St Cecilia, a sublime work, as well as Howells' version of the same name. Purcell also features, with his Welcome to all the Pleasures (an Ode for St Cecilia's Day). And no concert celebrating this saint would be complete without Vaughan Williams, with his 5 Mystical songs, featuring the Baritone Rupert Pardoe as our soloist.
